Youth Council

Orange County Workforce Investment Board Youth Council

The Orange County Workforce Investment Board Youth Council serves as an advocate for youth in the community. The Youth Council plays a central role in planning youth programs and activities, determining eligible youth employment and training providers, and providing oversight of employment and training programs and services.

Youth Council Membership

As required by the Workforce Investment Act, the Youth Council includes representatives from:

  • Member of Orange County Workforce Investment Board (Educators, Employers, Human Services Representatives)

  • Representatives of youth service agencies including juvenile justice and local law enforcement

  • Representatives of local public housing authorities

  • Parents of eligible youth seeking assistance under this subtitle

  • Individuals, including former participants, and representatives of organizations, that have experience relating to youth activities

  • Job Corps Representative

  • Labor Representative

  • Youth Representative

Roles of the Youth Council

  • Coordinate youth activities and services

  • Approve criteria for the Request For Proposal (RFP) process

  • Recommend eligible youth service providers and funding allocations

  • Conduct oversight of programs and services

  • Carry out other duties as authorized by the Chair of the OCWIB
