Governor Schwarzenegger Comes Out In Support of Foothill South Extension 

On Tuesday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued a letter of support for the Foothill South extension to the SR-241 tollroad in South Orange County. The letter was sent to California Coastal Commission Chairman Patrick Kruer urging the Coastal Commission to support the project. In his letter, the Governor stated that "The SR-241 project gives us a chance to protect our parks and our coastline and reduce one of the most damaging environmental problems that plagues our state: traffic gridlock. I hope you will join me in supporting this major step forward for California."

The Board held its annual election of Chairman and Vice-Chairman for 2008. Chairman Norby nominated Supervisor Moorlach to serve as Chairman and Supervisor Bates to serve as Vice-Chairman. Santiago Fire Recovery Update 

Last Friday, the County’s Emergency Operations Center and Storm Center was activated due to the unexpected amount of rainfall. County Public Works staff were deployed to the canyons to handle the excess mud and debris flows that were being deposited onto the roads as the rain continued to fall. Residents were mandatorily evacuated from Modjeska Canyon and Williams Canyon.
