Bates, Orange County Supervisor, 5th District, has been elected to the South Coast Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors. Supervisor Bates and her husband, John Bates, have been long-time members of the StarFinders – the largest support group of South Coast Medical Center. “Pat and John have always been extremely supportive of the hospital,” said Elizabeth Schneider, Executive Director of the Foundation. “This is just another way she is working to ensure residents along the South Coast have nearby access to first rate medical care.” “When I was South County’s representative in the State Legislature, I often received invitations to join the boards of various non-profit organizations,” Bates said. “As a County Supervisor, the invitations have continued to arrive. I was honored to join the South Coast Medical Center Foundation board because the hospital has had an extremely positive impact on the lives of people who reside in my district. I am happy to have the opportunity to help ensure the hospital remains and prospers,” she concluded. The Foundation and hospital serve six communities in Supervisor Bates’ 5th District. They are Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo. “The current goal of the South Coast Medical Center Foundation is to raise funds for equipment and facilities,” said Schneider.” “However, shortly, we will re-activate our efforts to continue to raise funds for the Cancer Center that has been planned for a number of years.” For more information about the South Coast Medical Center Foundation, please call Schneider at 949/499-7147.
