Yorba Linda Evacuations Downgraded To Voluntary 

As of 3:30 p.m. all mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted. Voluntary evacuations remain in effect and residents are encouraged to remain vigilant as the recent heavy rainfall has created the potential for mud and debris flows in and below burn areas. Local officials will continue to monitor the surrounding terrain, watershed from the Chino Hills State Park, and current soil conditions.

California Geological Survey - Hazards From Mudslides...Debris Avalanches and Debris Flows in Hillside and Wildfire Areas  

The single most important action that should be taken by residents on rainy nights is NOT to sleep in lower-floor bedrooms on the sides of houses that face hazardous slopes. More than 100 Californias have been killed by debris flows during the past 25 years. Most of these 100 deaths occurred when debris flows buried persons who were sleeping in lower-floor bedrooms that were adjacent to hazardous slopes.

The three areas subject to the voluntary evacuations include the Brush Canyon Area, the Box Canyon Area, and the North Fairmont/San Antonio area. While all of the impacted slope areas in the City are at risk, these three areas are being monitored more closely because of the surrounding terrain, watershed from the Chino Hills State Park, and current soils conditions. Residents are encouraged to remove themselves from these areas until the current rain event has passed.
