Dependent Eligibility

The County conducted a dependent eligibility audit in 2009. Employees and retirees are required to provide a signed affidavit as well as copies of requested documentation confirming the eligibility of dependents for coverage under County of Orange health plans and/or the Management/Attorney dental plan. Click here for a list of eligibility definitions and required documentation. Failure to respond with complete information by December 31, 2009, resulted in the removal of all dependents from County health plans and/or the Management/Attorney dental plan effective January 1, 2010. Once removed from coverage, eligible dependents cannot be re-enrolled until the 2010 Open Enrollment period and their benefits would not become effective until January 1, 2011 (unless there is a qualifying event as defined by IRS regulations).
