Meet your Treasurer-Tax Collector Shari Freidenrich 

Shari was elected as Orange County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector in November 2010 after serving as the Treasurer for the City of Huntington Beach since 1996.  Shari’s extensive public service experience in managing the city’s finances and investment portfolio makes it an honor for her to serve as the County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector.  She is responsible for overseeing the county’s $6 billion investment pool and serves as a trustee for the $8 billion Orange County Employee Retirement System.

Prior to her work with the City of Huntington Beach, Shari was a Controller for McDonnell Douglas Travel Company, a division of the former McDonnell Douglas Corporation (now Boeing Corporation), which had sales in excess of $130 million from 1994 to 1996. She also worked for McDonnell Douglas Corporation as an Auditing Specialist from 1988 to 1994. She started her career with Deloitte & Touche, an international accounting firm, and left as a manager in 1988.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Washington State University in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and graduated summa cum laude.  Shari is a Certified Public Accountant as well as a Certified California Municipal Treasurer (CCMT), Certified Public Finance Administrator (CPFA) and Certified Public Finance Investment Manager (CPFIM).  She is currently serving as the President Elect for the Association of Public Treasurers and is a Past President of the California Municipal Treasurer's Association.

Shari and her husband Clive live in Huntington Beach. She is active in many community service groups including the Rotary Club of Huntington Beach, Soroptimist Club of Huntington Beach and the Chamber of Commerce.
