Nielsen Appointed To Planning Commission
(SANTA ANA) - Ben Nielsen, former mayor and city council member in Fountain Valley, was appointed today to the planning commission of the County of Orange. Nielsen has also served on Ft. Valley's planning commission.
He was appointed by First District Supervisor Roger Stanton to fill the unexpired term of Michael Potts who moved out of the First District. Nielsen will serve the remainder of Potts' term. Planning commission members' terms coincide with those of the Supervisor appointing them.
"I have full confidence in Ben Nielsen's ability to represent the First District in the best interest of all Orange County citizens," said Stanton. "He will provide a fair and independent viewpoint on the issues facing the commission."
Nielsen was a city councilman from 1978-86 and served two, one-year terms in 1982 and 1985 as mayor. He is the long-time owner of Cambridge Furniture Company in Gardena.
