Despite the Christmas Eve announcement of $2.4 million in grants for homeless programs, further releases bring the total to $6.8 million, announced Chuck V. (Santa Ana) – The doors of the Santa Ana and Fullerton National Guard Armories open today to provide emergency shelter, along with enhanced services to help end the cycle of homelessness. Both armories are tentatively scheduled to remain open seven days a week through March 31.

(Santa Ana) – The Orange County Board of Supervisors this morning voted unanimously to initiate a Tender Offer program for the County’s outstanding 1994A, 1996A and 1997A Pension Obligation Bonds (POBs). The Board is in a special meeting today for strategic financial planning.

NEW YORK, Sep 22, 1999 -- Moody's has raised the ratings on $1.5 billion of outstanding debt of Orange County, California. The stand-alone and underlying ratings on its Pension Obligation Bonds have been upgraded to A1 from Baa2; the underlying rating on the county's 1995 Refunding Recovery Bonds has been upgraded to A1 from Baa3; the underlying rating on the county's 1996 Refunding Recovery Certificates of Participation (COPs) has been upgraded to A2 from Baa2; the ratings on two pre-funded equipment financings and two fixed asset COPs have been upgraded to A2 from Baa3; and the county's equipment lease financing has been upgraded to A3 from Ba1

(Santa Ana) – El Modena Pride Clean-Up Day will unite 21 County staff members and local officials including Fourth District Supervisor Cynthia Coad, County Executive Officer Jan Mittermeier, City of Orange Mayor Joanne Coontz and Orange Police Chief Andy Romero with more than 200 residents to clean up the El Modena unincorporated area. On September 11, neighbors will reclaim their neighborhoods through efforts such as graffiti removal, trash removal and other cosmetic improvements.

(SANTA ANA) – Tomorrow night begins the first of a three-week pilot program to videotape, then broadcast meetings of the County Board of Supervisors. The three meetings to be taped are those of April 27, May 4 and May 11. The videotaping and production of the meetings are being donated by Time Warner Communications, the television department of Chapman University, and Comcast Cablevision. Tomorrow’s evening meeting begins at 6 p.m.

(Santa Ana) – Four County of Orange departments and agencies have joined hands with community members to support National Volunteer Week. Beginning April 23, participants from communities across the county will volunteer their time and muscle in projects such as organizing a clothes drive for at-risk youth and distributing literacy information. Volunteers will also get involved in cleaning up beaches and riverbeds or building new bridges and trails in several county wilderness parks.
