Emergency Medical Services Receives Grant
SANTA ANA- Emergency Medical Services, a part of Orange County's Health Care Agency, has received a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety, State of California and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant will implement a program that will train approximately 4,000 law enforcement personnel in Orange County in the use of bag-valve-mask ventilation.
Law enforcement personnel will then be equipped to provide airway intervention to adult and pediatric victims when needed prior to the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. This intervention will help decrease complications associated with hypoxia (oxygen deficiency) and communicable diseases. Training for the law enforcement personnel and monitoring of classes will take place over the next two years.
