James Ruth Appointed CEO 

(Santa Ana, CA) - The Board of Supervisors this morning appointed James D. Ruth as County Executive Officer. Ruth,67, who has been Interim CEO for the last nine months, was appointed Feb. 5 by the Board to serve as interim following the departure of Michael Schumacher. In today’s action, Ruth will sign a contract which contains a 12-month commitment.

OC Ranks Fourth in Nation For Online Services 

(Santa Ana) - The County of Orange ranks fourth in the nation and first in California for using information technology to deliver high-quality, easy-to-use services online, according to the 2003 Digital Counties Survey. The study was conducted jointly by the Center for Digital Government, National Association of Counties (NACO) and Government Technology magazine. Orange County tied with San Diego.

County Supervisors Take Oath of Office on Monday 

(Santa Ana)- Recently re-elected Supervisors Jim Silva and Tom Wilson along with first-time Supervisor Chris Norby will take their oaths of office at 2 p.m., Jan. 6 on the steps of the Old County Courthouse, 211 West Santa Ana Blvd. in Santa Ana. A reception on the second and third floors of the Courthouse will immediately follow the ceremony.
