Supervisors Appoint Jim Ruth Interim CEO
(Santa Ana, CA) - The Board unanimously appointed James D. Ruth as Interim County Executive Officer effective today under the following terms:
- Salary will be $98.56 per hour based on a 40-hour work week. The monthly total is $17,084.
- CEO Ruth will serve in an extra-help status, that is, without benefits. He will be reimbursed for necessary travel expenses.
- Ruth's contract has no specified time limit, but the interim appointment is expected to last four to six months until a nationwide recruitment for CEO is completed. The contract allows for either party (the County or Ruth) to terminate the arrangement at any time with no penalty or severance payment. Ruth's status may also be extended with no additional action.
- The Interim CEO will have all the powers and authorities vested by ordinance in the County Executive Officer.
