County Names New Chief Probation Officer
(Santa Ana, CA) – The County Board of Supervisors today announced the appointment of Colleene Preciado, a County employee for 29 years, as Chief Probation Officer. She replaces Stephanie Lewis, who recently retired. The appointment is effective today. Preciado will be responsible for leading the Probation Department which assists the criminal court system in Orange County. The department collaborates closely with the Sheriff’s Department, Public Defender and the District Attorney’s Office. For the past five years, she has served as Chief Deputy Probation Officer. She has also worked as a Child Support Officer for the District Attorney and in other Probation Department positions such as Supervising Probation Officer at Juvenile Hall and Probation Division Director at Juvenile Hall. Preciado has a B.A. in social work from California State University at Long Beach and began her career by volunteering for the Los Angeles and Orange County Probation Departments during her college days. “Colleene is an excellent leader and problem solver,” said CEO Thomas G. Mauk. “She knows the business she’s in and she’s a top-notch team builder. Her appointment will benefit the Probation Department and the County as a whole.” |
