Social Services Agency Hosts First Faith-Based Forum
To Recruit Foster and Adoptive Families
(Orange, CA) Social Services Agency will host the first annual faith-based forum to discuss ways to recruit foster and adoptive families on June 29 at the Tustin Ranch Golf Club in Tustin.
More than 150 churches and organizations from around the county are invited to meet with agency staff. “We want the churches to come and openly share their thoughts and ideas,” said Juan Herrera, foster and adoptive family recruiter for Orange County Social Services.
There are more than 3,000 children in the foster care system and 35 percent of these children need homes. “It is our hope to build a close, working relationship with the churches and organizations and find good homes for our children and to provide support for those families who are already fostering,” Herrera said.
The need for foster families is especially strong in the Anaheim and Santa Ana communities because the majority of the children in out-of-home care come from those cities. Also needed are bilingual foster parents.
The forum begins at 11:30 a.m. and will run until 1:30 p.m. A complimentary lunch is provided. The Tustin Ranch Golf Club is located at 12442 Tustin Ranch Road in the city of Tustin. To attend the meeting or for more information please call (714) 619-0247. For information on becoming a foster or adoptive parent please call 1-888-871-5437 or visit www.oc4kids.com.
