TEEN CONTEST
OC PUBLIC LIBRARIES

Voices & Visions is a monthly contest for Orange County teens showcasing your creative works of prose, poetry, art and film. A new theme will be announced at the beginning of each month, with entries due by the last day of the month. Those entries will be judged the following month (while a new theme is announced) and displayed on the OC Public Libraries website the month after that.

Here’s how to enter:

  1. You must be 12-18 years of age, a resident of Orange County, CA and have a library card from OC Public Libraries. (Don’t have a card? Find out how to get one here .)
  2. All entries must be your original work, using only non-copyrighted materials in the production of your entries. This includes sound recordings, printed media, films, music and sound effects as well as scripts. OC Public Libraries assumes no responsibility for breach of copyright in submissions.
  3. One entry per teen per month in any category. If you enter more than once, only the first one will be eligible for judging. You may enter in more than one category.
  4. All entries must relate to the stated theme, and will be judged on how well they interpret the theme. Judges will also consider other appropriate criteria. Entries will be judged by a panel for each category. Judges’ decisions are final; no correspondence will be entered into.
  5. All entries must be appropriate for general audiences.
  6. One winning entry in each category will be chosen and published online each month. Others may receive honorable mentions. Winning entries will be available for viewing on OC Public Libraries’ website.
  7. Entries may be published online for the purpose of this contest and/or used by OCPL for publicity purposes.
  8. Entrants agree to release OC Public Libraries for any action, suit, claim, demand or proceeding they may otherwise have against them arising out of or in connection with entrant’s participation in the competition including but not limited to any action, suit, claim, demand or proceeding concerning infringement by any person of any intellectual property rights. In other words, if somebody sues you for using their stuff or their image in your entry, OC Public Libraries are not involved in any way.
  9. All rules are subject to revision.

Ready to enter? We hope so! Click on your chosen category below to read the guidelines for each genre and submit your entry. Winners will be notified by the end of the month following entry. Winners will be displayed on www.ocpl.org using only your first name and age to protect your privacy. Good luck!
